Change EFI to an Early 2014 MacBook Air i7

Hello all,

I have a 2013 MacBook Air with an i7-4650u. This machine is identical to the model released in early 2014, so I was curious, is it possible to make the system believe it is a 2014 MacBook Air rather than a 2013? I know I can edit plist files to display this in the About thus Mac page, however, I was wondering if it was possible to flash a new EFI bios onto it to make it actually believe that it was a slightly newer machine than it is, since they are just rebranded 2013 models.

Thanks!

Understandable. This was kinda just a thought I had today. I like tinkering with these things, and it just seemed like a weekend project. But you’re right. It’s not broke, so let’s not break it.
