What is happening/wrong with my screen?

Block Image

Not sure what happened to my screen. I didn't drop it or get it wet. Are the black bars due to a defective LCD or an issue with brightness?

Its new and only a few weeks old. I assume it is covered by Samsung manufacture warranty?

If its NEW you can take it back and SHOULD get it replaced for no cost.

Usually this happens when something heavy was set on top of it, damaging the LCDs. Eventually it will grow to the whole screen. IF it is covered by warranty, get it switched. If they wont cover it, break out the tool kit and get to work.
