finding something wrong with the hot water heater

I have a hot water heater in my condo that has been here since 2001 when the condo's were built. I have a home warranty and I have gotten in contac with the plumbing outfit that is here in Las Vegas. The hot water heater also effects heating the condo. I do not turn the heat on during the winter time because I bought a ceramic heater that just heats my bedroom. I don't want any extra problems then just trying to have someone change the hot water heater so it won't leak. How can I tell them to change it by just paying for the deductible? There are some items that they will not pay for a new water heater. Please let me hear from you. Thank you very much.

Philip Streich, what is not working on your water heater? Is it leaking or not heating? My insurance did not cover the replacement of my water heater either....

Look at your policy and see if the problems exist that meet the insurance contract. If you are unsure, talk to the plumber and show him the policy and ask him if there is anything that fits the criteria for the policy to replace. If he says no then it is time to pull out the wallet. But get the plumbers advice as he may be able to help you out.
