Fixed it yesterday, my iPhone 3G is dead today.

I dropped my 3G a few months ago but it kept working.

Lately, it started behaving weird: the screen would fade to white and then the phone would restart. I found out I could prevent this by pressing the screen (like a cardiac massage) while it was fading to white.

Yesterday I opened it carefully, sprayed the inside with canned air, replaced the 1, 2 and 3 cables and put it back together. It seemed to work perfectly, yay!

Today, less than 24 hours later, it suddenly died. Completely.

I opened it again, disconnected and reconnected the 123 cables again, but to no avail. It is totally dead. I tried USB and wall power, nothing. It just won't turn on.

Does anybody know what went wrong?

Thank you.

UPDATE:

Guys, I'm officially getting scared. The phone is hot. Not like, on fire...but it's not cold. Did I unleash a demon?

does the heat come from any one place? does the vibrate still work when you plug in? is it recognised in itunes?

by

I believe the heat comes from the logic board, but I'm not sure.

Doesn't vibrate, iTunes doesn't recognize anything. Totally dead.

try cleaning the dock connector, open the phone and check all the connections.1-4. then tell us how you get on.
