Seagate firecuda 1TB SATA 6 Gb/s, 128 MB Cache (ST1000LX015)

I want to upgrade my computers hard drive and I want to buy the Seagate firecuda 1TB SATA 6 Gb/s, 128 MB Cache (ST1000LX015), however, I am not sure it is compatible with my Macbook Pro 13" Early 2011- i7 processor.

Is it compatible, and if not, what option should i consider??

I've done this upgrade many times. I do change out the hard drive/IR cable to the 2012 model.

MacBook Pro 13" Unibody (Mid 2012) Hard Drive Cable

UPDATE

I also use tape on either side of the cable as it comes over the optical drive to prevent contact damage from the bottom of the case. But I'm a professional, and do it so it won't fail again.

Thanks! But is the cable replacement necessary? or more of a precaution?

In addition of replacing the cable I would place some electrical tape on the uppercase where the cable rests to help protect it from abrasion.

If I replace a drive I replace the cable to make sure it's going to work reliably. Don't be penny-wise pound-foolish. A bad cable can mess-up your drive.
