Hook it up to an external display and see if the problem persists. It sounds like an inverter problem to me too.

UPDATE

Do a web search for the inverter part: 922-7375 or 922-8280

Here's how to install it: MacBook Core 2 Duo LCD & Inverter A1181 (fast method) Replacement

also check the inverter cable: MacBook Core 2 Duo Inverter Cable Replacement

Tried hooking it to external display - it works fine. Can someone suggest what can i try - apple guys are in mood to cheat me saying it is not inverter problem. But the logic board issue. Today, when i asked them for final price, they now quote Rs 40,000 to Rs 45000 - that is approx USD $ 1000 - in which i can get a new macbook.

i would like to fix this dim display issue of my mac and use it.

Please give us the last three letters of your serial number so we can get you to the correct part and guide. Did the repair guys know it worked with an external monitor? If so I would report them to corporate Apple for fraud.

by

Yes, infact they confirmed me this that it works with external display and suggested me to buy an external monitor rather than getting it repaired as it was expensive as above quoted price - when i went to collect my laptop yest, they showed me it working with external monitor and i was able to use my laptop with external display.

last three digits of my apple Serial Number are 0PZ (it is zero, P, Z)

thanks for your help on this - hope i can get my laptop fixed soon with your help.

by

Check your serial number again please, the 0PZ nets nothing. Look inside your battery compartment. or go here: http://www.everymac.com/ultimate-mac-loo...

Yes sorry for the same, it is 0P2 (zero, P, two) - sorry for confusion.

thanks

I suppose you tried such things like resetting SMC, PRAM? One more thing which can be causing this apart things you mentioned is display itself, respectively dead CFL in the display (suppose that Macbook does not have LED backlight yet). But according my experience CFL usually does not die instantly but it starts to blink at first.

Fed of dealing with Apple team - they sent to other Apple Authorized Centre and they too say Motherboard issue. I am not so technical about hardware parts.

Wondering where else can i look for options in India.

thanks
