New battery, charge level jumps from 90 to 1%

Hi,

I’ve just followed your guide for battery substitution (great!)

It worked fine.

But now I’ve reassembled and rebooted the iPhone jumps from 1% to 90 (and so on, to 80%, then 20...)

Is there a way to check if it’s a battery problem, software (before replacing the battery just lasted 3 hours, without those jumps!) or if it something physical I can fix reopening the device?

And what should I see to compare the quality of batteries in commerce?

Thanks

It sounds like you probably damaged the filter (FL11) next to the battery connector that allows the battery to communicate the battery conditions to the CPU. This is called the BATTERY_SWI line. See the picture below.

This requires a micro-soldering repair and is not DIY. Ideally, you need to find a micro-solderer to do this.

Thanks Minho,

Could you please explain the picture you sent to the solderer? What does it represents, what’s to check and to do?

You could save my work!

It seems it wasn't the FL11!!

I've just disconnected the battery, and reconnected, and now the device works just like before! Lucky me!

(infact while looking up for FL11 I was wondering how could I have it broken...)

Thanks anyway.
