going into apple to change the storage

if I was to go into an apple store and ask them to change my ssd, what would they say?

Going to an Apple Store or even shipping your system to Apple won't get you anywhere! Apple does not offer after sale upgrades!

I think the last Apple authorized upgrade was the 128K upgrade to 512K original Classic Mac!

As it turns out replacing the SSD in your system is quite easy!

You could try finding an original Apple SSD on Amazon or eBay, but you might not get the correct one or one that works.

The other two choices are:

Many independent shops offer upgrades! Some will even put in a real Apple SSD if you request it.

They would probably ask for money. if you give them money, they will fix your SSD.
