Washer not Spinning or Draining

I have a 29 yr old Maytag A482. It fills and stops. Advancing the dial to spin or drain results in a loud hum. There is no clog in the outside drain hose and no clogs in the hoses inside. I took apart the drain pump and found a straight pin wadded up in lint and removed it. The round metal part in the drain pump rotated freely. The belts visible on the bottom of the washer were intact. The lid mechanism clicks like it has always.

Unfortunately, I put everything back together and there was no improvement. Since this is so old, and I am hesitant to put much money in it, is there a way of knowing if the drain pump is dead, there is another "easy" fix, or the motor is kaput? I cannot smell a darn thing no matter how bad it is, so I wouldn't know if there was a burning smell.

Thoughts? Thank you.
