Will the laptop run w/ no CD ROM drive?

My CD ROM drive is shot. I don't want to replace it. Since I never use this CD ROM, I was wondering if I could remove it.

Will the laptop still boot and run normally w/ no CD ROM drive?

thanks and happy new year,

Hi! Yes, it should work fine without a CD-ROM. Unless there's a reason you want to remove it, you could always leave it in place and save yourself the trouble.

Also, in case it's of interest, there are kits that let you mount a second hard drive in the CD-ROM bay, in case having more storage space would be more useful to you than an optical drive. If you're interested in one of those, let me know, and I'll find you a link.

Yes u can. I used this exact machine for almost a month with no superdrive till i purchased a newer version of the original. Just follow the guides provided here. Some people even opt. to use the superdrive space for an extra drive. Depends on your specific needs.

Yes, it will run, there's nothing about the superdrive that is required by the system to boot.
