Black screen, but visible with a torch from back after liquid spill

hi,

I have a A1342 with a display problem. After a liquid spill the MacBook works fine except the displays backlight. It's possible to see the desktop with an external light pointed from the back as well as with external monitor via HDMI connection all work fine.

My question is what do I have to replace, the logic board or also the screen with cable?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

What was spilled? Also take some good pictures of the inside. Focus around the display cable connector in the top right corner. Post them here for us to see.

well, theres too many things that could be the issue.

The backlight itself is attached to the screen. if that itself is failing, then you would need to replace the screen.

the Signal is transferred to the screen via the cable. so if thats failing, you would need to replace the Cable itself.

The Signal is processed by the Logic board. if thats failing you would need to replace the logic board.

If more than one thing is failing, you would need to replace multiple things.

Be sure to scrub down the Circuits and connectors with 99% isopropyl to make sure you need to replace them.
