Ear speaker low and trebley. Cleaned and Changed speaker, still same!

I havent posted in a year or so because i left the industry, but I've fixed 1000's of iphones.

My wife's ear speaker is very low and shrill. So I opened it up, and replaced speaker. I also made sure mesh was clean. Still the same. Then I took the new speaker and tried it in a different LCD assembly, but on the same phone, and it worked fine.

I went back to the original assembly and rechecked the mesh and hole; clear. This can only mean its something in one of the flexes, right? The other assembly, of course, gives me the fingerprint warning(That it won't work) but she never uses it anyway, but its just perplexing this kind of crap still happens with iphones. Any ideas?

Answer this question I have this problem too

If it works fine in another assembly, then yes. You most likely just need to order a new camera flex assembly. but if you don't want to lose the fingerprint function, then just use the original home button in the other assembly..if you are, then also change the backplate as well where the long Home button flex is attached to.

Yup, It was the Ear Speaker, Prox. Loc, FF cam flex. I took the old one off the other assembly, reinstalled on my wifes, and it works. Ugh, I do not miss this.

Anyone trying this that hasnt before, make sure you heat the front side of the glass just below the FF cam and prox sensor(This will loosen the glue and make it easier to remove), and carefully remove the old with a thin smudger. when installing the new one, make sure everything is perfectly aligned and the cover fits on perfectly. There are no shortcuts and if its not exactly right, and the piece is askew, you can damage your LCD assembly when you put it all back together.

Hope this helps someone.
