Installation of operating system after installation of new hard drive

I replaced my hard drive and now when I turn the computer on I get a flashing question mark. Help!

Hello,

You have to install OS with a CD or USB Drive but, for create a bootable USB Drive, you will need a another functional Mac.

@mayer The USB Drive ? it will be formatted during the process of creation.

So, that doesn't change anything.

@thonyf The internal drive will need to be formatted GUID then Mac OS X extended Journaled before a system is installed. Next address the run away fan issue the OP is going to have.

@mayer Exactly, if the thermal sensor isn't connected to the hard disk, there will be a problem with the fans.
