Why isn’t my alternator charging?

My alternator isn’t getting the signal to tell it to charge the electrical system. Took it in and tested it works fine. Battery light came on a day ago now there is no power being generated. Checked the fuses and continuity all were fine. Is it a computer issue? Is there something I’m missing?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Did you have the output tested, on the alternator, to check if it is indeed working. Could be the that the regulator/rectifier has died.

I had a similar problem with my 2007 6.0 and i had replaced the alternator with one from auto zone and wound up taking it back to them and four alternators later I got one that lasted, they had a bad batch and it would work on the test machine just fine but once it was under stress of heat and actual working conditions it would fail. It has been fine now for over a year. knock on wood. but its a life time warranty so that is why i kept taking it back to them.

Did you check the online fuses that is in the wire from the back of alt to the battery. Not a normal fuse it's in- line and should be tested because it's what the regulator needs to know what battery voltage is to turn itself on. If it sensed 1/2 normal system volts it pops on. Chances are it's ur alt. But check ur fuseable links there are 3-4 in the wire from battery to alt.
