What would I need to have replaced?

I was replacing my battery in my iPod classic 160 gig. I went to snap it back together but it seemed like the replacement battery I purchased was too thick. So I went to free the ribbon from its lock and the lock device broke off from what I believe is the motherboard. First, can it be fixed? Second, if so, what would need to be fixed?

@pbud24 sounds like you broke the connector of the board. You might consider posting some images of the damage with your question. That way we can see what you see. Use this guide Adding images to an existing question for that. If it is then the only way to accomplish that is by soldering a new connector to the board. It is a bit tricky since the connector is an SMD part. It is soldered on top of the board and it does require some good skills, but it is doable. Check this video for more insight. You can get the part from places like this and many others. If you are not sure about your skills of getting it done, you might just want to try a TV repair shop and see if they can do it for you. Make sure that the cost for the part and the repair do not exceed that cost for a new logic board,

Have you tried putting the ribbon cable back in and using the cable lock piece that broke of to hold the cable in place?
