Power shorting out when turning on iMac

My 2.8Ghz 2008 iMac shorts the power when I turn it on, could this be the power supply or the cable? This recently happened, before that it was working fine. I don't have an other cable to test it with, so I'm relying on you guys, because the PSU is still about 100$...

Thanks in advance,

Tristan

So lets see if I understand this correctly: Your fuse panel breaker trips when you try to start your system.

You have the systems AC cord directly plugged into the wall outlet and the wall outlet is a dedicated 20 Amp (3 pronged outlet) service for your computer. If not disconnect (turn off) all other devices that also share the same breaker line (other outlets and/or lights).

Again, as soon as you press the power button on the system Bang! The breaker pops correct? If thats the case you've isolated the fault to the power supply within the system.
