Won't pump out water without resetting main switch

Have an issue with a Series 90 Kenmore Washer.

It turns on when the main selection switch is pulled out, the tub fills and the washer agitates and washes normally as expected.

The problem occurs when it should continue on to the pump out and rinse cycle. I now have to turn the main selection switch off and then immediately on again before it will go into the next cycle of spinning and pumping. The coupler was replaced but this did not remedy the problem.

If you know what might fix it I would appreciate the help.

Thanks

And it's still the BEST washer Ive ever owned and there have been a few, so this is a keeper!!

I'm no expert but it could be the timer control that is faulty.

Jim, You are correct. The timer control is bad. The internal switch isn’t making a proper contact. OQqxSorry I got to this question too late. Mayer, your comment (if you have to push someone to work...) was great!

I'd replace the door switch.

Unfortunately replacing the door switch has not fixed the issue.

It still requires pushing the main switch in (off) and then immediately pulling in back on (out) in order for the machine to continue running to the spin/pump-out and rinse cycle.

Any thoughts??

Let's see if @ladytech can help. Once you pull the switch how quickly does it drain?

by

After you push the main switch in and out rapidly it starts to spin and drain immediately, as it did when it was working normally. It will then complete the entire cycle to the end of the rinse and final spin.

It's very strange but very irritating because you have to stand over it now to operate the switch manually a second time.

OK. if someone works for me and I have to keep pushing them to do their job they get replaced by someone who will do the job pretty quickly.

I'm going to replace the Main (timer) Switch as first suggested by sm_vulkus and that should fix it.

It is the 'logical' part to replace but not inexpensive.

Thanks for everyone's input, and hope your New Year is a GREAT one in every aspect!
