glitches and lines of pixel noise, deficient video playback

I´m getting lines of colored pixels when temperatures reaches more than 50C. Temperature goes even more, up to 70C with more demanding applications.

I get these lines all the time, with Firefox or any other internet application.

Overheating is also affecting Video playback and even worst, its simply crashes.

Some people says that is a problem with the video card affected by overheating.

Any ideas?

thanks a lot

Chosen Solution

Hook it up to an external monitor and see if the problem persists. This may be a bad Nvidia chip and Apple will replace the logic board for free. Please give us the last three letters of your serial number.

You do not have the Nvidia GPU. Go ahead with the external monitor test. Do you only get the lines when it starts overheating?

Yes, its starts with overheating. I´ll try to do the test tomorrow on a friends monitor, I ´ll be posting after that. Thanks!

but it reach 50C so easily, that i´m using smcFan Control at 4000 rpm, that leave temperature at 45 to 50C, I can work longer, but the problem is still there, and still getting lines and still crashes.

It's time to open it up and clean it out and replace the thermal paste and blow out the fans and vents. Here's how to get to it: MacBook Pro 15" Core Duo Model A1150 Heat Sink Replacement
