Can't surf using safari

I have dismantled the iPhone 3GS to replace the battery. Of all the problems I encountered I can get answer from you, for instant the connector to get the camera working and so on. But I am puzzled by, why after removing and fixing it back for several times, I can't use it to surf the net only when using safari. I still can get on to the Internet using web as long as it is not using the safari. It looks, it just got stuck and even though the timing wheel continue to spin perpetually. No help even after resetting.

Do all the other Apps work? Does SMS and Phone work? This doesn't sound like a hardware issue. If all other Apps function, then I would just restore the phone, but not from a backup. Try restoring as a new phone then sync to get all your apps and data back.
