Replacement home button doesn't work

I replaced a iPhone 6 screen & the screen/camera/Speakers are all functional but the home doesn't work at all - nothing. My client came to me with out a home button so I cannot test the original. Is the new button defective or is the software glitching out because it hasn't had a home button in a while.

A replacement home button should function the same as a regular home button with one exception-fingerprint ID will not work. As far as glitching? A hard rest should solve the problem. Ensure the replacement is for the six.

Im getting no functionality at all - I can't do a hard reset without a home button

You can do a hard reset if you turn on Accessibility. It will place a home button on your screen. Then just find the option to restart the phone.

I would guess the home button to be the defective part.

Could be homebutton, but could also be the longflex running along the screen

The screen is brand new would that make the new screen defective?

by

its not the actual screen but the metal plate with the ribbon thats attached to the back of the lcd

by

What Daniel said. If it came with the screen, then even higher chance that it does not work as it is likely a cheap part

by

The button was defective - replaced the button (again) and it was fine

Touch ID isn’t functional after an screen repair if the home button is replaced.

I’m not looking to use Touch ID - just use the button for its other functions

ensure the cable on the thermal plate is working, try another cable-ensure the socket where the home button is plugged into isn't damaged- try a replacement home button know to work with the iphone six remember the touch id will not work -all other functions should.
