Muffled Earpiece even after Replacement

Hi There,

I have an iPhone 6s and just came back from africa. I realised when I left that the earpiece had become muffled: it is quiet quiet and lacks lows and quite treble heavy which sucks.

I had a local repair place look at it. After replacing the speaker multiple times they have seen no difference. At one point they said that when the phone was open the speaker sounded fine, but when the case was put back on you could barely hear like before. Now they are saying that it is a motherboard issue and is going to cost me another £50. Quite frankly, I don't quite no what to do and I don't really want to take it apart.

Do you think it is worth going to a good repair agency and asking them to have a good look? To me I recon there is some dirt or something but they obviously can't see anything. I do have some rubbing alcohol though if that helps.

Many Thanks

Tom

Id check the mesh for oils and debres. Then take a super small needle and poke holes to the far left. Thats where ghe speaker is.

Awesome - should I use rubbing alcohol on it too?

Compressed air would be better, how tech are you? If you are.

Open up the screen and remove the earpiece then blow air from the back out.

I tried but no luck so far. Any ideas?

Ahh ok - I can get some compressed air.

I am pretty tech competent - I build PC's and do IT support but haven't taken an iPhone apart but I know it is not too tricky just don't wanna break it aha. My friend has an ifixit kit so might try
