Hi,

Can you feel the air coming out of the laptop's air vent, proving that the fan is running?

Have you checked that the air vent is not blocked or clogged at all?

Does this only happen when you are playing the game and does it happen often?

Does it do this if you have the power adapter connected to the laptop?

Have you checked in Event Viewer to see if there are any events listed at the time of the shutdown?

What OS is installed in the laptop?

Have you checked that you have the latest graphics adapter drivers installed appropriate to the OS?

What other info about your Lenovo laptop can you share (besides RAM and video RAM)? The more information about your device you can provide the better.

In general, sudden shutdowns happen to laptops with drained, flat-dead, old, or malfunctioning batteries. When a battery is in any of these states your laptop relies 100% on its wired power supply.

Even when playing a game or performing any other basic task on your laptop, simply bumping your power cord connector could make your laptop suddenly shut down.

Depending on the type of laptop you have (Mac, PC, Linux), other causes for a laptop to suddenly shut down are any one, or combination, of these issues:

• Mis-matched memory (RAM) chips

• A corrupt file system (or individual file)

• Bad RAM (whole chip or allocation/sector)

• Full or nearly full hard drive or SSD

• Virus, trojan, worm, or other nasty breech of your operating system

• ...and just about anything else (without knowing more about your device)

What troubleshooting have you tried so far?

EDIT:

What game were you playing?

Have you checked the game’s requirements and does your laptop meet those requirements?

Hi @webuxr ,

The OP's laptop is a Lenovo G580 (see box, top right of page)

Also English may not be the OP's first language. If so he's not doing too bad. We both had a grasp on what he was asking ;-)
