anne calder, I assume your new battery is in your ipod. All you have to do is use your USB cable plug one end into the nano and the other end into the usb port of your computer. Or if you use a wall charger, you plug it in there. It seems to be to easy. Have you replaced the battery or is there anything else that does not work on your Nano? What generation Nano do you have?

Amazing, truly amazing.

thank you very much for your (somewhat sarcastic?) response. I'm new to MP3 players, there is NOTHING in the info which comes with the Ipod which even refers to charging the battery - other than a message on the ipod saying low battery...I have plugged it into my computer as there is no wall charger with this, but nothing tells me when it is fully or only partially charged. Seems to be a bit of an important omission for anyone trying it out for the first time.

No sarcasm intended. Sorry if you feel insulted or anything like that, it is not my intention to belittle anyone. We could have avoided this if you would have given a little bit of a hint in your question that you are new to MP3 players and iPods. Yes, you are right, half the stuff that any user should know about their iPod has to be looked up and searched for. Anyhow, your iPod will charge when plugged into the USB port of your computer. The wall charger is usually sold as an accessory and available in most department stores. I do prefer the wall charger since it avoids iTunes to pop up and they do have a little bit more current. Good Luck with your iPod.
