Can I repurpose my 128 gb storage memory from an iPhone?

Hey guys and gals.

I have an old iphone 6 plus which was affected by the touch disease.

I can't use it in any way so I thought it would be nice if I could take out the internal 128 gb storage and put it in a flash drive or something?

I don't need to salvage any data from it, I would just really like to find some purpose for it.

Thank you for reading.

P.S. If you know other uses for the phone aside from being a glorified paper weight, feel free to comment

I would fix the phone!

The flash chip is useless alone and I don't know of anyone making the needed unit to support it (it would be more expensive than a similar USB thumb drive)

I agree with Dan and Minho, I would definitely have the 128GB Touch disease repaired. You would save your DATA and have a nice usable phone. If you already have a replacement, the value would near triple the cost of repair

You guys are right... I will try to find someone to repair it because prices were quite high when I was looking at it earlier. Thank you

Chosen Solution

First of all, you can have your 6 Plus Touch Disease repaired fairly economically. The current best practices offer a very robust repair and many, many micro-solderers offer this service.

Secondly, as far as re-purposing the NAND, yes you can in theory but not necessarily in practice. NAND Flash drives change constantly, even if popular models maintain the same case design for years (i.e. Sandisk Cruzer). You would have to find or own a model that uses the exact same line of NAND chips and even then, there's no guarantee the controller will automatically recognize the larger capacity.

I was afraid of that... I will try finding someone to fix it here and hope for the best. Thank you.
