Found a dime (coin) inside the DVD drive when replacing the battery

When replacing the battery on my device I see a dime inside the protective cover on the DVD drive. I assume it is not supposed to be there, but would appreciate advice about this and how to get it out.

Thank you.

Rosalie

Update (12/15/2017)

OK, I tried to lift the plastic sheet but it was adhered tightly and would not lift up. So, I carefully scored a small cut in the plastic by the dime and then pushed from the other side of the dime with a very small screwdriver through one of the openings in the plastic where screws are located. The dime gradually was pushed through the cut opening and is now out. I then placed a small piece of tape over the cut hole to seal it.

Now to see if the DVD drive works and if the battery will function as well.

Too bad it wasn't a Mercury (collector's item - silver) dime...

Hi Rosalie,

Your absolutely correct about how the dime is not supposed to be there, however in order for me to give you advice on how to get it out, I would appreciate if you could upload a couple detailed photos so I can see where it is and guide you from there.

Wow its Heads ;-}

You'll need to carefully lift the sheet of plastic (curved side) enough to grab it with some tweezers. Don't lift the other sides as the flex cables could get damaged. Good Luck!

Thanks Dan, I'll try that!

Removing the plastic sheet to get the coin out, then readhering it isn’t going to have an impact on the CD drive, keep us posted! Sorry I didn’t get back to you sooner. - Chris
