Why is there a burning smell from my top loader?
I have a direct drive washing machine (Roper RAS8445KQ0). It is stopping in the middle of the wash cycle and we smell a distinct burning electricity smell. The motor has been replaced, both the pump and the shaft on the gearcase turn freely by hand, and the pump is doesn't have anything in it that I can see. I filled the basket with no clothes in it and it operated thru a wash cycle no problem. Still minutes leading up to rinse had a grinding/crackling noise in the timer, but it did not stink of electricity at all. Any idea what's happening?
Is this a good question?
