troubles with home button after changing front panel

Hi all,

This is my first fixing with ifixit.

I have an old Iphone 5 with brocken screen so I bought the front panel from the website together with tools.

Everything works good untill I switch the phone on after the replacement. The home button doesn't work.

As the reassembly instructions are only the step back , I was really wondering if I had done the right things.

How do I ensure that the 2 golden dots are aligned with their counterparts on the back panel?

How do you ensure that the golden dots are "reglued" correctly?

Thanks for your help

Have you followed this specific guide?

Check out Step 23 to see how the pads should be placed. There should be sufficient residual adhesive to allow them to properly stick to the new screen.

I would also check Step 12 and look at the bottom-center of the image. Those gold "fingers" are what make contact with the pads. Make sure they are bent ini such a way that they can contact the pads. Be careful as they can break easily.
