Projector not turning on, lights flashing

I got hold of a non fuctioning 5 years old Epson EB-1925W projector. When pressing power on, after few seconds the fans started to blow at full speed and 3 red leds started flashing. That is an internal error according to the manual. So i ordered a new ballast board from China. After i changed the ballast everything worked fine for a few hours. then it started to turn of the light after 3 minutes or so and blink the leds again. Yesterday i watched two full length movies with no problems, today it won't light up at all. The lamp is an original spare with only 200 hours in the counter. There is no dust anywhere and all the fans work fine. Could the Chinese ballast been faulty or is there some other fault that could cause this behavior?

Answer this question I have this problem too

I would say go with an authentic one from epson (https://epson.com/Accessories/Projector-...)

and if you have issues after using this one, you can contact epson. They are not cheap though. $499.

First, could you send me a link to where you bought your Chinese Replacement?

Thanks for your answer. The replacement ballast had a TDK sticker on it like the original and it was $71. Here is the link: https://www.aliexpress.com/store/920565 . The projector is not worth 500 and there would still be doubt if the original ballast would fix the projector. Maybe there is some fault elsewhere which is causing ballasts to break. Haven't contacted the Chinese seller yet, trying to figure out if the ballast was faulty or not first.

I recommend you contact them and see what they say

I had the same problem . The problem is the ballast cord cable that connects the ballast

to the lamp. After a while the connector contacts on this cable that connect to the lamp

become oxidized and even a new lamp with a new ballast won't ignite. The solution is

either replace the ballast cord or clean the contacts with an abrasive material to remove

the oxidation. In my case with this issue the projector diagnostic codes were indicating

a bad lamp. Once all the contacts were cleaned the projector functioned properly.

It starts with a bad lamp indication so you replace the lamp and you still have the same problem

then you replace the ballast etc and still same problem. The problem is the lamp

connector contacts in the projector.

Thanks for your comment. I already dumped/recycled the projector, so can't try your fix anymore,
