Why is my notebook not charging? already tried new battery and cord

This is actually my friends computer. She said that all of the sudden it won't start at all. It's completely dead. She bought a battery to start troubleshooting from the obvious but still no signs of life. I used my girlfriend power-cord and still the computer won't receive any power (light turns yellow at the end of power-cord when connected).

any possible solutions?

This could be several things. The new battery may just need to sit and charge up for an hour. I can't tell if your friend and your girl friend are two different people and you've tried two different AC adapters and if they are the correct ones. First check the tips of the AC adapters to see if they've been broken. For the correct guides and parts we need to EXACTLY identify your machine, please give the last three letters of your serial number. The next thing is to check the DC-IN port with a multimeter and the AC plugged in to see if your getting power out of it. Here's the part: [linked product missing or disabled: IF154-072]

Hi Mayer, first of all thanks for trying to help me.

My friend and my girlfriend are two different people. She was told (my friend) by a mac store "genius" it was the battery. She bought a new battery and after charging it for a while the computer still wouldn't boot. The computer's serial # is W8423064QW2

Now, my girlfriend's old computer is an iBook G4 A1055 and the power cord is 45W.

I will report my finding with after testing the DC-IN port

Excuse my ignorance, but how do I check the DC-IN port with the the AC adapter plugged in? I have a multimeter.
