iPhone says "no service" and "waiting for activation"

Hi,

I bought a second hand iPhone 3gs witch showed "no service". I restored, placed a new antenna, reset networksettings, but it still says no service. i can also not make a emergency call.

Can someone help me? This is a 16 GB model with iOS 4.2.1.

Options

IS the SIM on the phone card valid / active? If so, then contact AT&T and have them re-register your phone to the network. You would then power the phone down for 10 minutes and reboot. If that doesn't work, you might be looking at logic board issues.
