Why is my microwave making groaning noises?

When my microwave is running it makes a loud, groaning noise. It seems to heat the food properly.

Is the moaning noise really loud and constant or random?

mine just started to moan instead of heat, obviously an electrical problem, not mechanical.

what is ‘Flat spots on the rollers’ means?

by

Hi.

A roller is like a wheel in that it is round.

The ring turns on the rollers (usually 3 )

They need to be round to make it turn smoothly.

A flat spot is like when you have a flat tyre, round at the top but flat (or straight) across the bottom.

Check all the rollers all the way round their edges to make sure that it is round and not straight (or flat) in some places

Hi,

Check the rollers on the roller ring under the turntable, for flat spots. Flat spots on the rollers can cause the turntable ring to stutter or make a grinding noise as the rollers are 'dragged' past the flat spots.

If the rollers do have flat spots on them, (check all 3 rollers) you will have to replace the entire roller ring as the rollers are not a separate replacement item.

If the rollers seem OK then check if the roller “track” is smooth and even and clean. If the track is OK then perhaps the turntable drive motor is failing and needs to be replaced.

There weren't flat spots, but there was a bit of debris on a roller. I cleaned and checked all rollers and turned the ring over. It works fine now. MANY THANKS!
