Boots fine but screen stays blank, any ideas?

Just replaced my right fan, and while I was at it decided upgrading to 2GB of ram instead of 1, and replace the battery. Got the MBP back together and plugged in, light turned green turned on the computer, could hear the fans and HD boot, but screen stayed blank. The light on the lid latch stayed on but dim. Pulled the battery and unplugged for 1 minute, plugged it back in and same thing. DVD drive does the boot but like 10 times in a row then stops. Any ideas would be great. Also the two sticks of RAM were from 2 different manufactures does that matter? Purchased all parts here.

Push hard

on the RAM, if you haven't put all the screws in and tightened them, look closely at the display connectors. If you have and the RAM is not loose in the connector you'll have to open and check.

Better if the RAM is from one manufacturer, even same batch, but not critical... unless one of the used sticks is bad. Put the original RAM in, problem goes away it's the "new" RAM.
