I can't charge my Polaroid Zip.

I bought a new Polaroid Zip and when I tried to charge it, the charging light flashes red for a short while only and it turned green. However, when I tried to turn it on, the light flashes red and stopped. I can't turn it on. I suspect the battery is faulty. What can I do?
