I just had a similar problem on my D5100 and was advised to send it back for repair. After comparing mine side by side to another at a camera shop, (remove lens and with camera on press shutter release button) the lower right corner of the mirror was binding with the stop. We were able to GENTLY pry the lower right corner of the mirror away from the stop (from the right, not underneath) and now it is functioning flawlessly.

What if it’s doing the similar to myD5200 and it’s not the corner of the mirror sticking?

I had the same error message on my nikon d5600 and I have managed to fix it by using an external flash > I've simply attached an external flash to the body, turned the camera and the flash on and suddenly everything was working again. I shot some pictures and removed the flash. The error message disappeared and the shutter release button works again as well. I hope this helps for you :)
