Leak. I'm not sure if it's the tub or something else.

First, thanks for taking the time to read this.

Noticed the floor around the washer was wet. I tried testing how it behaved by triggering the different parts of the cycle.

While filling up, I noticed it would leak somewhat. During the spin cycle, wasn't necessarily worse.

No water on the back of the machine, the hoses seemed dry.

So. I decided to fill up the tub partway, put a little bit of detergent in it and let it just hang out.

Came back an hour later and there it is. Soapy water on the floor, not so much in the tub.

Reading some other questions and their answers, I wanted to try to narrow it down as much as possible before taking the whole thing apart or hiring someone.

Any help is most welcome!

Cause 1

Drain Pump

The drain pump pumps water out the drain hose. If the drain pump is cracked or damaged, or if the bearings are worn out, the drain pump may leak water. The drain pump is not repairable—if the pump is leaking water, replace it.

Cause 2

Tub Seal and Bearing Kit

The tub seal might be torn, causing water to leak from the seal. If the tub seal is leaking water, water may leak through the tub seal and into the tub bearings. This can cause the bearings to fail. For this reason, if the tub seal is leaking water, replace both the tub seal and the tub bearings. Be aware that this is a complicated repair and will require disassembling most of the washer.

Cause 3

Tub Seal

The tub seal might be torn, causing water to leak from the seal. If the tub seal is leaking water, water may leak through the tub seal and into the tub bearings. This can cause the bearings to fail. For this reason, if the tub seal is leaking water, replace both the tub seal and the tub bearings. Be aware that this is a complicated repair and will require disassembling most of the washer.
