My screen is badly cracked and I want to fix it myself.

I have never dissembled and then repaired a phone or any other electrical device before, but my Huawei P9 just recently fell hard on the floor and so is badly cracked.

There are no repair shops where I live and I would like to try to fix it via manuals.

Would it possible to replace the LCD display with a repair kit , for a beginner like me?

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

Hi!

It's nice that you want to try to fix the device yourself. It should not be hard as long as you have the right tools, a lot of patience and care for detail.

The phone itself has a relatively high repairability score and looking over the guide revealed that replacing the display is rather simple.

Here's the guide I'm talking about. All the tools you will need and the parts are linked to in the header of the guide.

Good luck and have fun!

Is there a difference between digitilizer and digitilizer assembly? why are there two things listed? If I just want to repair the cracked screen, then I only need one LCD display right? @alexniculescu

Thank you!

Hi!

Buying the "assembly" will save you the part where you use the heat gun. The screen of your phone has some components glued to it, buying the kit w/o those parts (the cheaper one) means that you will have to use a heat gun to separate those part from the old panel. Then you'd need to glue them back onto the new panel.

As I said, the "assembly" options has those parts already glued in place, you won't have to transfer the old ones.

You can try step by step. But do it properly. Choose a suitable place where you replace the screen. You can also check videos on Youtube how to replace phone screen.

Hello Amy, it's absolutly possible to do it yourself. Just be patient and don't force anything. You can follow the steps here on ifixit. However, they only replace the screen itself. So you will have to glue the new screen to your frame. This is a annoying process and i would suggest that you order a lcd that is already installed on a frame. I have a P9 wich needs a new screen as well. This will be the fifth P9 I repair so I already have some expierence. If you want I can document or film the repair. Just let me know what you want to do.
