Accidentally broke a little tab off the motherboard

There is a small tab with 2 metal connectors that is right beside the battery connection on the motherboard. It also seems to slide into the phone base. Broke this off by accident. However the phone still charges, and the speaker and mic still work. Anyone know what it does?

Judging by the guides, it looks like it doesn't actually connect to anything. Probably used in the factory for debugging / JTAG.

But the only part I see it connecting to is the modular battery but I don't think there are two contacts that align to that spot.

It's been two days and everything is working normally, so I think I may have dodged a bullet. Thanks!

Could this potentially have something to do with an antenna? The phone seems to be having a harder time than usual seeing cellular service/lte. Fluctuates between having full bars and searching for service .

My phone has basically become a wifi only phone since breaking that tab . Sometimes it picks up a signal from a close tower or one that is available at the right moment, I guess, but mostly it is reliable as only a wifi connected phone. tiny tab broke off during screen repair. Told only fix is to replace logic board

I broke off the same tab and was worried my phone wouldn't work anymore. Glad to hear yours is still working.

edit: like others said it connects to the cell antenna on the case. I no longer have any cell reception, can only connect to wifi.

Is it worth it trying to micro-solder the tab back on, or should l just get a new motherboard? Seems wasteful, but I also don't want to torture myself. I also don't really want to set up my phone again from backup if I can help it.

PS. Yep, still using a G5 in 2023!
