Powers on (fan and hard drive), but no chime, or display?

Hi,

I have a White Macbook 2.16 GHz, 4GB Ram and 320GB HD. I used it yesterday, and went to power it on today and it just has a black screen. I can hear the fan and hard drive spin up, but no chime or anything on the display.

I've tried using a external monitor and, tried reseting PRAM/SMC, didn't work. I check the RAM, Hard drive, power adaptor and battery on another computer (all worked) I also tried to insert the install disc but the drive wouldn't accept it.

Not sure if it's a clock battery/PRAM battery or worse the Logic Board.

Try it in Target Mode. Hook up to another Mac via a firewire cable and start your machine holding down the "T" key. What exactly happened when you attempted to insert your installation disk?

Nothing happened, and the disc won't go into the drive (wasn't grabbing the disc).

Reseat The RAM one stick at a time and try starting with just one stick, battery out, AC in.

Tried it... no change...

We're running out of things to try. Next would be an external firewire optical drive with your system installation disk holding down the "C" key both with and without the hard drive installed.

I don't have a firewire optical drive... I tried a usb one with and without the hard drive... no change... didn't even read the drive.

What would cause it to suddenly stop working? I didn't change any hardware or software (minus updates) in the last 6 months... the computer is always been connected to a APC UPS/Surge protector.
