Can I upgrade to another C2D processor?

I have processor Intel C2D 2GHz. I would like to upgrade it to 2,4GHz. Is it possible?

Hi!

Unfortunately you can't upgrade the only processor since it's soldered to the logic board. You'd have to replace the entire motherboard.

Complicating the matter for Intel CPU users is the plethora of socket formats that may be involved. At last count, Intel had four active socket formats for desktop PCs: LGA775, LGA1366, LGA1155, and LGA1156.

@tuteraz Well, you can change the processor if it is in a socket, because a socket just keeps the chip pressed down alligned with the pins. The socket then connects to the board. MacBooks do not have sockets because the chips are basically glued directly on the main board.
