Trying new LCD screen

Hi - so my old screen had no backlight. Could be damage to the board as some people have indicated. I bought a new lcd display to try this method first as it was only 20.00.

Q: If I hook up the new lcd display, and only connect the two ribbons without transferring all of the parts, should I expect to see a lit up screen?

I tried this method before I waste my time transferring all the parts. All I can see is the screen under a flashlight with no backlight.

Connecting just the LCD and Digitizer connectors is fine for testing.

Of course, it could still be a poor quality replacement screen but it sounds like a blown backlight circuit. This will require a micro-soldering repair.
