How do I make my flash drive bootable?

I am trying to make my flash drive bootable on my Lenovo ThinkPad Edge. When I use the command bootect /nt60 G: /force (G: is my flash drive), command.com does not take it. I used Diskpart to prepare the device first.

Anybody knows why?

Laxman Shrestha, here is the link that I use to make my USB flash drive bootable for the many tablet PC's I still need to fix:-) http://www.bootdisk.com/pendrive.htm I use method 2 and it has worked for me all the time. Straight forward and even so I am not an HP fan I did find that particular software very useful. Do keep in mind that your computer must support booting from USB and it will depend on which OS you are wanting to boot. Good Luck to you.

to boot from USB flash drive, you should first of all know that what operating system you use. Actually it is a little different for different Windows OS. That means if a Lenovo running Windows 8.1 to boot from USB is different from that of a Windows 7 Lenovo computer.

See how to boot from Lenovo from USB flash drive for details.

Generally speaking, it is a little different for different Windows OS. so you should note that what operating system you use.

If it is Windows 10, 8.1, 8, do as the following:

1. Connect a bootable USB drive to the USB port on your PC. Open the Charm Bar by pressing Windows Key-C. Click on Setting at the bottom and then Change PC settings.

2. Click on General and scroll to the bottom and click on Advanced Startup -> Restart Now Click on Use A Device and finally click on Boot Menu

3. Click on the USB drive that you want to use to boot from. The computer will now restart and boot from the selected USB drive.

If you are running Windows 7 or older versions, see
