Wont turn on, Workflow? Damaged iPhone.

Hey,

I've an iPhone 6 here in front of me. I got it with the description that its broken, but the guy don't know why. I paid not much money but he didn't tell me that he has still worked on it.

What I see was that there are some screws are missing, the home button was not really fixed (this is what I have repaired, no prob) and the cover from the a6 chip is not on the logic board anymore.

LCD is still there, the logic board looks very good, nothing to see from a water damage.

I think he has done a switch from the cover.. because its red and there are no glue on it.

So have you a tipp what I should check first? Witch parts I should measure first?

I have tried it with a new battery and a new headphone jack, but it won't turn on.

thank you!!!!

First, let's be sure you have an Iphone 6. I ask because you say it has A6 CPU? Or was it a mistake and it is A8?

Next, if it had (Has) a red water damage sticker, I would take out the Logic Board, remove the shields and give it a proper cleaning with an ultra sonic cleaner preferably, but at least a good alcohol bath with 95% or stronger and a gentle scrubbing.

Then I would start with checking for shorts. You can test PP_VCC_MAIN, PP_BATT_VCC, and then begin searching around the PMIC at PP_GPU, PP_CPU, SDRAM, etc... to see if you find any shorts.

After resolving any shorts or obvious damage you may see, plug in the battery and Lightning port cable and test some of the voltages on those circuits... Hopefully you will find the issue by this point, if not, post back and I am sure someone will help you out from there :)

Best of luck!

Hey Guys, thank Michael for you're answer

sorry that I write so lat, but I was at work and no time for that.

You are right its an A8 CPU.

The Water damage Sticker ist white, no damage.

So what I see under the Microscope is that the "D1501" DIODE is missing. I don't know why, but its still missing-.-

Can this the Reason be that the iPhone Wont turn on?

Looking forward that you can help me:)

D1501 is the backlight Diode. You may want to use a flashlight on the screen to see if it is booting with no backlight. You should see a faint image on the screen, just be sure that you are looking for the apple logo or wait a coule minutes and press the power button to wake it and look. Also, does Itunes see it? If it is not powering up at all, then I would start probing around the board for shorts and voltages on the rails mentioned above
