iPhone 5s will not restore, stuck in recovery, getting error 9 code

Hello. I recently bought an iPhone 5s from a friend, it had a cracked screen and I had another 5s I received that is a parts phone. I replaced the screen using the ifixit tutorial and the device has been working just fine. Except for the touch ID scanner and I read that restoring the iPhone would possibly make it work. So I loaded up the latest version of iTunes, plugged the iPhone into my USB port using a genuine Apple charger and went to restore it. Now it is stuck in recovery, and when I go to restore it, I get an error 9 code after iTunes finishes "Extracting Software". I have nothing on this phone that I care about, I don't mind losing any info. I just want it to work. I don't even care if Touch ID works. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried to contact and ask Apple Technical Support directly? Maybe you should call or write to Apple team if you have such a difficulty? I've just run into this information https://apple.pissedconsumer.com/custome...

Download the firmware manually from http://www.iclarified.com/750/where-to-d....

Put the iPhone in DFU mode

Then use 3uTools to restore the firmware.

I am trying it out to see if I can get it to work, thank you for your advice. 3uTools is a nice program. It is also pretty simple to use. I will let you know the outcome when I finish.

After trying to flash it. I received a “-1” error code after reaching the 20% mark in 3uTools. After some research. It says that the error code is hardware related. I have an idea of what it may be and I’ll be trying it out. Thank you once again. I am going to accept the answer as it did indeed help me get closer towards my solution.

Error -1 on 3uTools may probably caused by baseband. But you can try to change the USB cable and try to restore again.

@soulxcx did you solve the problem? i have the same issue, error 9 in itunes and error -1 at 19-20% in 3utools in an iphone 4. Please help.
