no power but side test lights go up all way.

have had this problem before a few months ago and go it to start up. power cord is ok. checked all the blogs and still cannot get laptop to turn on. any more suggestions??

So the battery test LED's are light up with out any problems but the system won't start. Do you get any reaction from the system?

Did you have a liquid spill or sit-down the system on a wet surface? Its still important if it was awhile ago.

no, nothing like that. the laptop has been sitting in my drawer unused. wanted to use it to watch a cd but can't go through the hassle of bringing it to apple store

OK, Lets try this press and hold the power button for a good 60 sec's (don't cheat). Now release and press it once more as you normally would did anything happen?

Are you up to opening your system? Access to the needed tools?

Did you check the I/O board. That is where it all starts.

I would suggest starting with removing one ram stick and trying to boot again. if that fails swap them and see if it boots. If not then there is a problem somewhere else in the motherboard most likely.
