Dropped in salt water, would the screen still work?

My S6 spent a few minutes in salt water. I didn't wash it off or anything and after a few days the phone got hot and the battery swelled out, pushing off the back panel and slightly bending out the front.

I'm getting a donor phone on the cheap. Everything works on it beside the screen.

Would the screen in the water damaged S6 work or is everything on that phone dead.

Warning with the battery, handle with care. You're going to want to dispose that battery safely. If puncture, it can leak hazardous fluids and vent out fumes that can cause respiratory issues.

Anytime the phone gets wet you do not want the device on, nor do you want it to sit for several days.

This is reduce it's chances of reviving. The unit will need to be opened up and cleaned out thoroughly. Here is a good read for this from IFixIt.

As for the screen, it's most likely a goner unless the adhesive on your LCD was loosen up over time. The battery swelling may contributed to the damage of the screen, most likely making it inoperable.

TL;DR

It may be best just to get a new unit at this point, if you wish to not do that take it to a shop and see if it's salvageable before paying for parts.

Good luck

@sleepy1234 totally agree with @juax on this. Do not use anything from the water exposed phone. Consider it a total goner due to the corrosiveness of the salt water. Even if your screen would work for now, it will eventually fail.It obviously shorted out the battery and plenty of other things.
