Why wont my inspiron take anything other than windows 10?

i have a 2013 dell inspiron, its not strong, but i have a desk full of weak computers and its my strongest. my problem? it runs windows 10, its slow with windows 10, and i cant make it run anything else. it has the option to boot from other partitions in the drive, the optical, and even the USB, but it never boots from it. i tried using a linux partition, but it refused to boot claiming it as a "damaged windows partition", so i tried a the optical, running a standard windows 7 install disk, from when they still made them, it actually ran, but always crashes on the same frame while starting the installer. i know the disk isnt ruined because it has no scratches and it has proven to work without problem on my old mac. so i tried a USB, loaded installers and complete operating systems of linux and windows, but it wont mark the USB as an existing bootable, even if other things will.

the mac referred to is messed up and i plan on opening it up and working on it soon, and i want to be prepared for the case that i cant fix it. (it has a failing HDD and incorrect GPU sensors)

Answer this question I have this problem too

Is this a good question?

First, go to support.dell.com and download and update the latest BIOS for your computer, and see if your optical drive has a firmware update. Second, Microsoft has a download tool to directly create a bootable USB for Windows 7.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download...

You will need the key from the label on your computer.
