DENNON AVR-3300 remote works fine but will not turn on AVR power

I've had this unit for years and it works fine. Recently the POWER ON button on the remote will not power the receiver on. All the other remote operations work fine.

SOLVED: The mode selection slides switch was in the VIDEO position rather than AUDIO. Embarrassing. I think I had this problem about 10 years ago. It is easy to bump this with your thumb and no other functions I use were effected.

Excellent find - I've seen many uninformed recommendations by so-called electronic technicians that were telling people that their power on/off buttons were faulty. Thank you Sir for your contribution!!!

@dooner could be the remote itself. Disassemble it and check the rubber membrane as well as the contacts. Clean the contacts with a pencil eraser. If that does not work, I'd try a replacement remote first and if that does not work you may have issues with the IR board inside your receiver. Start with the easy things first.

Update (11/11/2017)

@dooner uncommon for this to be an issue on the IR board/circuitry. Usually when those go it will totally go and not just partially. Maybe it's time to take it apart and take a look at it. This document will help with that Denon-AVR-disassembly.pdf

The red LED that lights when any button is pressed still lights when the POWER ON button is pressed, so I don't think it would be the button contact.
