Tv will not turn on thru remote or power button on unit.

My VIZIO 55" will not turn by the remote or by the power button on the unit. This happens only occasionally, but is getting more frequent. I have to turn it off at the surge-protection bar and then turn it back on to get it to respond.

carey shouse does it work 100% of the time when you turn it on the surge-protection bar?

It is plugged into a surge-protection bar and has been for the past 3 years. The problem has just developed in the past month. 'Yes', it works when I turn it off at the bar and then back on. I am thinking of changing out the bar to see if that helps. I did a full reboot on the remote and the TV, so far it is good. Sometimes after a reboot, it goes for a week...sometimes just a day.
