The minimum required RAM: 1066 MHz PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM.

Yes, you can use faster RAM up to a point! I would only go up to 1666 MHz as the slower 1066 MHz is getting hard to find. You also can't exceed 16 GB between the two slots.

You're wasting your money going with 1867 or higher as the systems memory bus can't leverage it. In fact it may be too fast for the slower read/write of this system (RAS & CAS).

Look here: Your Apple MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2010) that works! No need to go higher.

If i can use faster memory, why not?

OK lets look at like a car... My car takes regular petrol (gas) do I gain anything using premium fuel? Nope! The engine doesn't care it runs the same way with either. MacBook Pro's are similar they are expecting a given value and thats that. Putting something in thats faster won't help it. As much as people will try to tell you otherwise there is no noticeable benefit! Don't take my word watch this: RAM Speed and Timings As Fast As Possible
