What's the best battery?

I've had my macbook for about five years now and due to lazy charge cycling and some previously mentioned generally poor upkeep I think I could do with getting a new battery for it.

My question is it worth getting an official apple replacement or will one of the hugely cheaper alternatives from elsewhere do just as well?

Also I'd obviously like to get the best so any opinions on where to get a quality non-apple replacement would be great.

It is definitely worth it to get official apple replacement batteries-- you basically get what you pay for. If you pay half the price, the battery will probably last half as long (it will look new and nice and shiney, but just won't live up to it's looks). All in all, I'd suggest official apple batteries.
